Sell gold jewellery
Before selling a gold jewel, it helps to know what the valuer will look at and how a value is reached. This page explains the process step by step, from showing the piece to receiving payment, with no surprises and no technical words.
Which jewellery can be sold?
Rings, chains, bracelets, earrings, pendants and any gold piece, whether complete, broken or loose. Pieces with or without stones are also accepted, as are old jewels that are no longer worn. You do not need to keep the box or the invoice, and the piece does not need to be in good condition.
What does the valuer look at first?
First he weighs the piece on a certified scale, in front of you, at your own table. Then he checks the carats with a test that does not damage the jewel. Weight and carats are the two details that count most in the final value, and he explains them to you calmly, without rushing. You can read more in how we calculate value.
Does the condition of the jewel matter?
Gold does not lose value for being scratched, bent or incomplete. What counts is the metal it contains, not its appearance or whether it can be worn. You can read more in selling broken gold.
What if the jewel has stones?
If the piece has stones, the valuer separates the value of the gold from the value of the stone, if it has one. He explains it piece by piece, without mixing the two into a single figure, so that you understand where each part of the value comes from.
How does the visit work?
A valuer comes to your home on the day we agree with you. He identifies himself with a name, photo and identification number, which we have already sent you before the appointment. He weighs each jewel at your table, in front of you, and gives you the value in writing with a receipt for each piece. Your jewellery never leaves your sight, and anyone you wish can be with you.
When and how do I get paid?
If you accept the value, we pay you by instant bank transfer. You see the payment confirmation on the spot, before the valuer leaves your home. You have fourteen days from the visit to get your pieces back by returning the amount, with no explanations and no penalty.
