Sell gold rings
A ring often holds a memory, so selling one is not like selling any other piece. This page explains how wedding bands, signet rings and rings with stones are valued, and why the gold and the stone are treated separately.
Can wedding bands and signet rings be sold?
Yes. Wedding bands and family signet rings are valued like any other gold piece, by their weight and their carats. The engraving, the date or the name they may carry inside do not change the value of the metal, even if for you they have a value that cannot be measured in grams.
And a ring with stones?
If the ring has a stone, the valuer separates two things. On one side, the gold of the setting, which is weighed and valued like any piece. On the other, the stone, if it has a value of its own. He explains each one separately, without mixing the two amounts into a single figure, so that you know exactly where each part comes from.
Does it matter that the ring has a special meaning?
The financial value is set by the metal and, if there is one, by the stone. The meaning of the piece is yours and does not enter the valuation, but we understand that a wedding band or a signet ring is not just any piece. The valuer explains it calmly, without rushing, and you decide when you are ready, not before.
How is the value of the gold calculated?
The ring is weighed on a certified scale, at your own table, and the carats are checked with a test that does not damage the piece. From the weight, the purity and today's gold price, the value is set. You can read more in what are carats and in how we calculate value.
Can I sell only some rings and keep others?
Yes. You decide piece by piece. You can accept the value of some rings and keep others, with no obligation and without having to explain why.
What happens during the visit?
The valuer comes to your home, identifies himself with a name, photo and identification number, and weighs each ring at your table. He gives you the value in writing, with a receipt for each piece, before you decide anything. Your rings never leave your sight, and a relative or someone you trust can be with you.
