Sell gold coins
A gold coin can be worth something for two different reasons, the metal it contains or the interest it holds for a collector. This page explains how we value your coins and why it matters to tell the two apart.
How is a gold coin valued?
We value the metal. The coin is weighed on a certified scale and its purity is checked with a test that does not damage the piece, and from there the value is calculated according to today's gold price. It is the same method used for a jewel. You can read more in how we calculate value.
Are all coins valued the same?
Not necessarily. Some coins hold an interest for collectors that goes beyond the gold they contain, because of their age, their rarity or their state of preservation. If that is your case, we tell you clearly before you decide anything, instead of treating the coin as just any piece.
What if my coin is worth more as a collector's piece?
We explain that too, without assuming that it is only worth its metal. If the valuer sees that a coin may have a collector's value, he tells you at the time, so that you decide with all the information before accepting anything.
Are coins from any country or period accepted?
Yes. You can show coins from different countries and periods, loose or in a batch. The valuer weighs each one and checks its purity separately, even if they are mixed.
How does the visit work?
A valuer comes to your home on the day we agree with you, and identifies himself with the name, photo and identification number we have already sent you. He weighs each coin at your table, in front of you, and gives you the value in writing, with a receipt for each piece, before you decide anything. Your coins never leave your sight.
How and when do I get paid?
If you accept the value, we pay you by instant bank transfer and you see the payment confirmation on the spot, before the valuer leaves your home. You have fourteen days from the visit to get your pieces back by returning the amount, with no explanations.
